For Parents

Parent Information

Attendance

Regular attendance at school is compulsory. Please phone the school to report your child's absence or late arrival. Students arriving late must report to the office for a late slip before admittance into the classroom.

More information about school attendance can be found on the Parkland School Division website.

Change of Address/Telephone Number

It is important that all student files are kept up-to-date regarding changes of address, phone number, cell number, parent's place of work and number in order for you to be contacted in the event of an accident or emergency. Please notify the school of any changes to this information as it occurs. Further, if you are in an area without cell phone service or for any reason are not available to be contacted during the day, please provide an alternate contact in case of emergency or if a teacher needs to contact you.

Lost and Found

ADCS has a lost and found bin located in the hall across from the school office.  Please check the bin on a regular basis for items that your child may have misplaced.

Personal Electronic Devices

  • Personal Communication Devices (PCDs) are to be operated by students when approved by the classroom teacher. Normally, PCDs are to be stored in silent mode during instructional and school sponsored activities.
  • PCDs are not to be taken into test or examination settings, unless students have been given permission to do so.
  • PCDs are not to be used in settings such as change rooms, washrooms, private counseling rooms, that have the potential to violate a person’s reasonable expectation of privacy.
  • PCDs may be taken temporarily from students by teachers or administrators when students are not complying with these procedures.

Provincial Achievement Tests

Provincial Achievement Tests (PATs) are administered annually to all Alberta students in Grades 6 and 9. These standardized tests reflect the essentials that all Alberta students are expected to achieve, regardless of school choice or location.

Examination dates for ADCS will be added to our Calendar & Events page. More information about PATs, including parent guides for Grade 6 and Grade 9, can be found on the Alberta Education website.

Weather Policy

All students are required to spend recess outdoors, unless the weather is too severe and an indoor recess occurs. Students are expected to dress appropriately for the weather. Students are also required to have indoor and outdoor shoes to ensure the school stays clean after recess.
